Maintaining healthy distributed systems becomes more difficult as environments scale up to hundreds or thousands of microservices owned by different teams, each with their own DevSecOps and monitoring practices. Without the right tools, it is very challenging for centralized SRE and Platform teams to promote such practices consistently across all services and teams, which can ultimately result in slow detection and response times, as well as excessive resources spent on finding gaps and areas for investment. In this presentation, you will learn how Scorecards enable organizations like Dropbox to quickly monitor the state of your services by evaluating them against pass-fail rules, both out-of-the-box and custom ones. For example, we will demonstrate how you can easily standardize the production readiness of multiple services and teams by ensuring they all have set up monitors and SLOs, and integrated their on-call schedule into their observability and security platform. In addition, you’ll see how Scorecards helps Dropbox’s SRE team improve communication with stakeholders at all levels, via generated reports that are sent directly to Slack channels to regularly report on scorecard results and adherence rates. You will walk out of this session understanding how to identify areas for improvement across services and teams, such as those that are not sending essential telemetry, missing critical ownership resources, or at risk of security issues. Consequently, you’ll learn how to better prioritize your efforts by promoting observability best practices at any scale, eliminate
