Demystify Database Monitoring to Improve Application Performance
Date & Location
June 26 | 2:30 PM EDT | Observability Theater
Databases play a key role in any type of system architecture and are critical for ensuring high uptime and a positive user experience. However, monitoring database performance has traditionally been a disjointed experience from monitoring applications, which often results in slow investigations and finger pointing between teams. This led to a need for a new paradigm that empowers application developers to understand the impact of their database queries on service performance and user requests, and SREs and DBAs to understand the impact of specific applications on database load and infrastructure performance. In this session, we will explore the key challenges of troubleshooting performance issues in complex applications from the database perspective. You will understand how Datadog Database Monitoring (DBM) helps you troubleshoot issues faster and more seamlessly by investigating slow services and request traces caused by inefficient query performance. You will also learn how to troubleshoot poor performing databases with query explain plans, wait events, and blocking query data—all in the context of the calling application. All together you will learn how to improve your application troubleshooting process to reduce downtime, lower application latency, and deliver an exceptional user experience.
