Level Up Your Application Performance with Datadog APM and Database Monitoring
Date & Location
August 02 | 4:30 PM PDT | Platform Talks Theater in Partner Expo
The relationship between applications and databases plays a key role in any type of system architecture, and seamless interaction between the two is critical for ensuring high uptime and a positive user experience. However, monitoring application and database performance has traditionally been a disjointed experience that often results in slow investigations and finger pointing between teams. Modern observability solutions need to both empower application developers to understand the impact of their database queries on service performance and user requests, and enable SREs and DBAs to understand the impact of specific applications on database and infrastructure performance. In this session, you will explore the key challenges of troubleshooting performance issues in complex applications from both the application and the database perspectives. You will understand how integrating Datadog Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and Database Monitoring (DBM) can help you troubleshoot issues faster and more easily by enabling you to investigate slow services and traces caused by inefficient query performance using the new trace-level queries in APM. You will also learn how to troubleshoot poor performing databases with query explain plans, wait events, and blocking query data—all in the context of the calling application. All together, you will learn how to improve your application troubleshooting process to reduce downtime, lower application latency, and deliver an exceptional user experience.
