Phil Calçado is the Director of Engineering, Core Platform for Meetup/WeWork, where he leads the organization's efforts to modernize the most successful platform for people to meet in real life. Before that, he was an architect at Buoyant, working on the pioneering Service Mesh open source software, and director of engineering at DigitalOcean, leading the microservices adoption that now powers the cloud provider. Phil is a known pioneer in microservices, as he headed the teams that built SoundCloud's microservices architecture and their product engineering organization.
